Limited edition 180g vinyl audiophile pressing + 4 bonus tracks, high-definition premium vinyl for super fidelity.
Available again on vinyl, this quintessential collector's edition includes Presley's sensational second LP, Elvis, originally released in mono by RCA-Victor in October 1956.
Widely regarded as one of the best albums of the Fifties and of his entire career, all the songs were recorded during a series of sessions that took place at Radio Recorders, in Hollywood, on September 1-3, 1956, with the sole exception of the album's final song, which was cut at RCA Studios in New York on January 30 of that same year.
Elvis spent four weeks at N" 1 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart in 1956, making Presley the first recording artist to have two albums go straight to number one in the same year. All 12 cuts were new, and none had ever been previously released as singles by RCA.
In addition to the original LP, this release also includes 4 bonus tracks, consisting of singles from the same period - the great "Too Much" (also cut at the September 1-3 sessions, but not included on the original album), the smash hit "Hound Dog," the ballad "Any Way You Want Me," and a cover of the New Orleans' staple "Lawdy, Miss Clawdy" (one of the biggest selling R&B records of 1952), composed and originally recorded by Lloyd Price.
