Hot Chip's seminal debut album, originally released on Moshi Moshi Records in 2004, now available in a special expanded deluxe edition. Celebrating 20 years of Coming on Strong, the special expanded triple LP version features 7 bonus tracks and a bonus photo booklet featuring archive photos of the band from the noughties.
There's a lovable oddball quality to the album with hints of Prince, The Beastie Boys, Beck... a souled-up folk vision of chilled out pop music with a twist. Hot Chip display an omnivorous approach to the entirety of alt, 60's pop and electronic music history. Their songs are infectious, silly, and often weirdly beautiful.
"Re-listening to 'Coming On Strong' is a pleasant reminder of a time when we were cocooned in an intricate world of music and friendship which sustained us. I have many happy memories and I like the naivety of music" - Joe Goddard
“Restlessly inventive, Hot Chip have crafted a genuinely organic, proper album, and the relaxed enthusiasm that drives this debut is absurdly infectious” Uncut
“An oddly beautiful record” Time Out
“A dazzling debut” NME
“Hot and very strong” Dazed
