Recorded using funding from Hollywood theologian Paul Epworth, The God Phone was a mammoth undertaking. Originally meant as the soundtrack to a currently-shelved sci-fi thriller, the five-piece spent weeks blasting cracked synths through priceless equipment that was repossessed from a confused north London aristocrat, inviting strings, organs, choirs, and vocalists to help realise the project’s full majesty. The result is an enormous-sounding record - a sonic colossus - unmatched in ambition and scope.
