South-African band Marumo comprised musicians from the Athlone School for the blind in Bellville, close to Cape Town. Their songs ranged from Sotho soul to Mbaqanga and from disco-funk to gospel, and they didn't shy away from spacey-synth slow jams either. Now reissued for the first time, their album Modiehi was originally released in 1982. It was recorded with producer West Nkosi, who was a member of supergroup Mahlathini & The Mahotella Queens and had worked with a.o. Ladysmith Black Mambasa, Teaspoon & The Waves, Patience Africa and many more.
