The word cold gets used a lot when we speak about TONN Recordings' synth, so it’s a rare thing to come across something in this music that evokes a warmer tone. But it's that quality of warmth that has become the hallmark of Misfortunes' sound. Both of Misfortunes’ vinyl albums on TONN Recordings, are full of synth rich in rhythmic undercurrent, always poised and poetic and accompanied in a voice that is never more beautiful than in its native Greek.
TONN Recordings is an independent record label based in Belfast. Founded in 2016 by visual artist Mary McIntyre, it is dedicated to electronic music. Home of select synth, it releases the best in contemporary coldwave and electro, working closely with the most active and creative electronic artists in the underground minimal synth scene, across Europe and the US.
