Six Organs of Admittance extend their annum of improbable delights with Companion Rises (Twig Harper Remix). Following Time is Glass in April and Jinxed by Being in June (the planetary conjunction of Six Organs and Shackleton), the third Six Organs-branded release in one year is an auditory upending of 2020’s Companion Rises, with Twig Harper tearing up Californian chaos into a totally new noise. Hit play on “The 101” today, Twig’s way!

Companion Rises dropped in February 2020 — the absolute best month to drop a record & plan a tour around, right folks?! Flash forward to 2023, and Ben Chasny was thinkin’ deep of what could have been; in the case of this Remix, along the lines of, “What would Companion Rises sound like if I had known how crazy the world it was built for was gonna be?” Chasny had been tuned in to Twig Harper’s sense of chaos and noise for practically eons, but when word came in that Twig was touching down in California for the first time Ever, the idea hatched: a re-scrambling of Companion Rises, virtually unrecognisable, amplified through Twig’s eye-scorching first account of the area! The maximal qualities of the original Companion Rises DNA are evoked here via omission: to recreate the implied construction of Six Organs’ spirit realm, Twig isolated source sounds, triggered new data off each, then edited the new readouts.

“The 101”, the first single off the Twig Harper Remix, shaves Six Organs’ acid-folk space rock original back to its baseline. Retaining a brisk BPM, as befits a road movie song, Twig keeps the beats minimal and lets the energy pour right through, with Ben’s re-grooved guitar signal clouding the track like an organic wonder of synthetic nature. The essence of Six Organs of Admittance, folk music of the dark globe, inverted and fully exerted!
