Leeds art punk band, The Mekons, released their debut album, The Quality Of Mercy is not Strnen, in 1979. It was originally released on Virgin, but despite the major label backing, they had to borrow the gear needed to record it from fellow Leeds band, Gang Of Four. When you get this album home and look at the back cover, that is, in fact, a picture of Gang Of Four and not The Mekons.
